Virtualbox as a service windows server 2008

If this is the case you will have to control the sessions via the service session. For example I use a webserver service with perl which runs commands I send via IE, this way everything is done inside the service session.

This is the first I've heard about this. It makes sense though. I'm trying to wrap my head around how to run a service that allows me to issue commands. Basically what I'm trying to do is create a shutdown script that will automatically save the state of my VM when the server reboots.

So maybe I need to create a service that opens a command and runs the savestate. This would be a manually run service started by the shutdown script I'll see if it works.

Re: [Working] VirtualBox as a Service Windows Server x64 by vbox4me2 » Sat Apr 03, pm I know the problems and given up on that concept in favor of using the console for such things, there are plenty ways to protects an autologin console and it allows maximum control including default rdp access. Any proper Host isn't using the console anyway. See notes at bottom There are a few quirks that I'm still working out, but this was pretty easy to setup. Report post. We have specified Win8DevPreview. In the Name field, enter the name that you will call the application in AlwaysUp. Enter the user name and password of the account in which you installed and run VirtualBox. Your VM will run in this account so that it can find its settings. Click over to the Startup tab and check the Ensure that the Windows Networking components have started box. Check the Use this special command to stop the application box. Specify the full path to the VBoxManage.

See the VBoxManage. Note: VirtualBox user Jesse Connor prefers use the ACPI shutdown instead of the recommended savestate because his Linux boxes don't seem to recover smoothly from saved states. Check the Wait for up to: box and enter 30 in the accompanying field. This informs AlwaysUp to wait for up to 30 seconds for VirtualBox to exit properly before forcibly closing it.
